Locally called Racuh a Payaman, the so-called Marlboro Hills are a wide communal grazing land in Mahatao. Cows and carabao roam freely across the green, and a small stone shelter at the edge frames the coastline below.
Standing on that ridge, the islands feel impossibly far from everything.
It's a bit of a walk from the road, but the reward is one of the most cinematic views in Batanes. Go on a clear morning when the light is soft and the wind hasn't picked up too much, and you'll have the ridge mostly to yourself.
